How to get a library card
Getting a Library Card
You can get a library card at our Circulation Desk at the front of the Library. Our staff can create your library account online with the required document(s) noted below. There is no fee for a card.
It also possible to register online through our online catalog. The link is in the upper right corner of the catalog's homepage. The temporary card assigned through this registration expires in 2 weeks. You can use it to place up to 2 holds on titles in the catalog. To get your permanent card, you will need to visit the Library before the 2 weeks has elapsed. Let our staff know that you registered online. They will find the temporary account, verify your residency with one of the documents listed below, and issue you a permanent library card.

- a current business card for non-residents who work in Waterford in addition to a current driver's license

NOTE: Cards issued to those who work in Waterford but do not reside in the Township have a 1-year expiration date. They will be honored at the Waterford Township Public Library but other libraries in our cooperative are not obligated to honor them. Per the vendors' requirements, remote access to some online databases, such as Overdrive - our provider of eBooks and eAudiobooks, is limited to Waterford residents only.

Temporary or Non-resident cards
If you are a resident of a neighboring community whose library is a reciprocating member of The Library Network cooperative you may use your home library card at the Waterford Public Library. We can also issue a 30-day temporary card to residents of such reciprocating communities to allow time to get a card from your home library.
