Brownie Bakeoff--A Big Hit!
At the first annual Waterford Township Public Library baking contest, the featured dessert was brownies, and we had 13 entries. The judges were Gwen Borders from Trifles Confectionery of White Lake, Tom Newcombe, director of Waterford Township Parks and Recreation, and Roger Holden, a chef and teacher in the culinary program at Oakland Community College.
1st place ($75) went to Karen Kush's Hawaiian Brownies.
2nd place ($50) went to Jamie Schutt's Mocha Cinnamon Brownies.
3rd place ($25) went to Nikki Hellner's Black Forest Brownies.

It was a wonderful event we're planning to make a new yearly tradition here!
Next year's baked good may be muffins, so start collecting those recipes.
