Amateur Digital Photo Contest, Summer 2013

cameraWe're having a photography contest! 


The theme is “Summer in Waterford”.
All entries must be submitted between June 1, 2013 and July 15, 2013 at 9 pm. 

Who may enter
All entrants must be residents of Waterford Township, Michigan.
Contest is open to amateurs only.
--A professional is defined as one whose past or present primary source of income (50% or more) results/resulted from his/her photographic work.
Contest is not open to employees of Waterford Township Library and their families.
Adults and teens may enter.  The teen age category is for photographers ages 12-17, and the adult age category is for photographers age 18 or older.  

There will be one judged winner and one “people’s choice” winner in each of the two age categories.

How to submit entries
Each photo must be submitted separately, as an electronic file, in JPEG format, attached to an email message sent to this address:
The e-mail message to which the photo is attached MUST contain the following information: 
        Photographer’s full name
        mailing address
        phone number
        e-mail address
        description of photograph, including location where it was taken 

There is a limit of 2 entries per photographer.
All submissions are final. 

Photo requirements
Photograph entries must be the original work of the entrant and reflect the theme of the contest, "Summer in Waterford".
Maximum size for the photo is 8” x 10”, and minimum size is 5” X 7” and with a minimum resolution of 180 pixels per inch. (No need to submit a print, however).
The maximum acceptable file size is 15 MB.
Entries may be vertical, horizontal, black & white, or color.
No watermarks, copyright notices, or signatures may be included.
The photographer is responsible for obtaining any necessary permission if the photograph includes an identifiable individual.
Photos should be appropriate for viewing by people of all ages.
All photos become the property of the Waterford Township Library.

Judging and prizes
Entries will be evaluated by two judges on the basis of appeal, content, composition, creativity and photographic skill. The decision of the judges is final.
There will be one judged winner for each of the two age categories.|
Beginning July 18th July 23rd all entries will be displayed online on the library’s website so that the public may vote for a “popular favorite” (“people’s choice”) in each age category.  The two people’s choice winners will not be awarded a prize but will be put on display in the library during August and September. All photo entries we display will be displayed with the photographer's name.
Winners will be announced in August.  

Prizes for the judged winner in each age category will be $50.00 

Winning entries will be exhibited in a display case (in print format) in the Circulation Lobby of the Library in August and September 2013 as well as posted on the library’s home page and facebook page. 

The contest organizers reserve the right to disqualify entries that do not conform to the stated rules and guidelines.  By participating in the contest, the entrant agrees to be bound by these Contest Rules, and it is the entrant’s responsibility to ensure that he/she has complied.  The determination of the winners will be final and binding in all matters relating to this contest.
