Original Six Dynasties: The Detroit Red Wings

**THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO LOW REGISTRATION**

Saturday April 5 at 1pm Bob Duff will present his new book Original Six Dynasties: The Detroit Red Wings and talk about the history of the original six hockey teams during the years 1942 to 1967, with slides and great stories. As sports columnist at The Windsor Star, Bob has covered a variety of sports at both local and professional levels. He has covered the Stanley Cup final, World Cup of Hockey, Super Bowl, World Series, Summer Olympic Games. Ryder Cup, and more. He will have copies of his book available for purchase and is giving a percentage of each sale to the library. Held in our Community Room.Original Six Dynasties cover

Poetry Writers' Workshop

Local poet and teacher Glen Armstrong leads this monthly poetry writing workshop. Bring paper and a pen/pencil, leave with a poem. The group meets every third Thursday of the month in the library Conference Room at 7:00 p.m.

Waterford Genealogical Society's Annual Lock-in Event is coming up in April

The Waterford Genealogical Society's 11th Annual Lock-in will be held on the evening of Saturday April 26 in the library (after hours). You'll learn a lot - see the list of classes that will be offered here.  The fee to attend this very popular event is $20 for WGS members, and $25 for a non-member.  To attend, please fill out and mail in a registration form along with the fee.

Tax forms update

irs logoUpdate: We now have all the major forms that we normally carry, including 1040-ES, the form for estimated tax for individuals, and City of Pontiac resident and non-resident forms.

Michigan 1040 booklets (which contain forms and instructions) and Michigan home heating credit booklets came in today. The federal 1040-EZ instruction booklets also came today and the federal 1040-A instruction booklets came in last week.  The only major things we're lacking at this point are the federal 1040 booklets and the 1040 schedule A forms.

Finished works may be submitted to the Poetry Leaves exhibition – see your original poem hanging in the trees on the Civic Center campus during April. A series of free classes designed to prepare you to trace your FAMILY HISTORY.
 Provided by the generous support of the Waterford Friends of the Library.
Genealogy 101, 102, 103, and 104 will provide you with the basic information necessary to trace your family’s history.            *All classes are from 9:30 to 1:00*

Cake Baking Competition

birthday cakeThe Waterford Township Public Library turns 50 this year! Help us celebrate 50 years of library service by baking us a cake!

Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 7:00 pm in the Community Room.

 

Take a look at the rules of the competition, register for the contest here, then bake any kind of cake and bring it in to be shared and judged. The top three winners will take home cash prizes based on the ruling of 3 local celebrity judges.

1st place -- $75
2nd place -- $50
3rd place -- $25

Bring ten copies of the recipe you baked, noting if the cake contains any milk, nut, soy, wheat, or egg ingredients to alert people who may have food allergies.
